There's nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be...(part 1)

Updated: Feb 6

“Sometimes I wish I didn’t care so much about the world. Wish I could do what I wanted to do for once” Victoria said “Well, you can always do that, you just need to be firm in your mind and you can achieve whatever you want” said Samantha. “Thanks Sammy, you’re the best” she laughed remembering the old times. Victoria and Samantha did their schooling and college together, after that Samantha moved to another city, got a nice job there and settled. Both of them lost touch for a while. They were best friends growing up; they shared everything from clothes to make up to secrets to dreams of growing up. It had been years since both of them talked to each other. One day, Samantha got a call from Victoria to come and meet her. Something in Victoria’s voice made Samantha very nervous; she couldn’t wait to meet her. She packed her things and immediately booked her tickets. Without much thought she took a cab to Victoria’s house and rang the bell. “Hey, you made it” exclaimed Victoria as she opened the door. “I’m worried about you, you didn’t sound so good on the phone” said Samantha “Come let’s talk inside” she said “Would you like some tea, I’m making chamomile?” asked Victoria “Yes, I will have tea” she said “Now, come quickly and tell me what’s going on?” asked Samantha

“I’m in trouble and I need your help” said Victoria “What kind of trouble?” she asked “I was in an accident a few days ago…” she began “And, did you get hurt or did somebody else get hurt?” asked Samantha “Yes, I hurt someone and don’t worry I wasn’t injured, just some minor cuts and bruises” she said “Go on, what happened then?” “I was driving home one night and suddenly a car came in front of me, I think the driver was drunk because he came towards me very swiftly, I tried to dodge him but there was no other way. We clashed into each other pretty badly. After a few minutes when I realised what had happened I panicked, got out of the car and started to run, but then I saw the other driver wounded. I quickly went over and tried talking to him, he wouldn’t respond. I dialled 911 and waited for the ambulance” she explained “Oh my God, what happened after that?” “When we reached the hospital, he was in a coma and since then he’s been like that” she said “What’s the problem? You were not at fault, he was. You should tell the authorities what actually happened” said Samantha “I already did and that has been sorted. The problem is something else” said Victoria “Tell me” “I have been seeing him, as in he keeps appearing in front of me and telling me that it was my fault. I’m the reason he’s in that state” she said “Don’t think like that, it’s just your subconscious mind telling you stuff. Maybe in your mind you feel you could’ve saved him” said Samantha “First I also believed that, but I actually see him, I see him everywhere, my house, and workplace, on the road. He follows me everywhere. Help me Sammy, I’m going crazy” she pleaded “Ok relax, we will sort this out. I’m right here Vicky” she said They tried a lot of things: meditation, relaxation techniques, sleeping pills but nothing worked. She kept seeing him and hearing his voice. They decided to see a psychiatrist and get some help as soon as possible. The appointment was set for the following day. He wasn’t much help either because the medication he had given Victoria didn’t help, she was relaxed and sleeping but the man’s voice kept echoing in her head. “Maybe we should visit him in the hospital. Maybe there is a solution there” Samantha said finally believing that Victoria wasn’t imagining things and something was definitely wrong. They went there in the evening and asked for his room. The nurse asked, “Its room 405, why have you come here now, haven’t you done enough damage already?” They ignored her and walked ahead. When they reached the room Samantha asked, “Are you ready?” Read the next part here
